The Thematic Week “Heritage Cities and Climate Change: Prevention Tools, Informed Planning, Transition Policies”, organised by the UNESCO Chair in Architectural Preservation and Planning in Heritage Cities, brings together academics, experts and institutional representatives to discuss the challenges posed by climate change to the protection and management of historic cities and heritage sites. The programme includes keynote lectures, thematic sessions and presentations of international case studies dedicated to understanding the impacts of climate change on built heritage and historic urban landscapes. The activities address risk prevention tools, methods of analysis and monitoring, data-driven approaches and digital technologies, as well as planning strategies and adaptation and mitigation policies. Significant space is dedicated to interdisciplinary exchange between academic research, institutions and local communities, fostering the sharing of experiences and best practices developed in different contexts. The working week aims to promote a shared reflection on operational tools and research directions capable of strengthening the resilience of heritage cities in the context of the climate transition and sustainable development policies.
