The second session Preparedness to risk: recognition, diagnostics and documentation. Implementing new technologies in sight of the future needs will deal with the contribution of technological research the management of risk in the case of armed conflicts and/or earthquakes. Scientists from the UNESCO Chair in Leuven (Belgium) will introduce an engineering approach to risk management; a research group from L’viv, Ukraine, will present the activities to document heritage before war damages occur; the Research Lab in Mantua will show the experience on damaged buildings after the 2012 earthquake; the Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair on Digital twins newly established in Carleton University (Canada) will deal with opportunities and challenges of digital approaches to heritage conservation.
